Approvals that do not slow you down
Which steps need a person, which can run alone, and how to change that over time.
Start strict
In the first week, every message to a customer, every spend and every record change waits for you. It feels slow. It is also the only way to read what the agent would have done, and to correct it before it matters.
Rules, not vibes
Turn each correction into a rule the agent can check: no pricing in a first message, no refunds over £500, no merges without a passing build. A rule applies whatever the model decides, so it holds on the day the model has an odd idea.
Let go in steps
After a week with no corrections on a kind of step, let it run alone and read it afterwards. Keep the approval on anything a customer sees for longer, because the cost of a wrong message is higher than the cost of a slow one.
Shared approvers
Send an approval to two or three people rather than one. The first person to decide makes the call, and the others see who decided. Approvals carry on while someone is on holiday.
